We'd rather say this in our own words, and we've been saying it for years: “You don't have to have all of this figured out to belong here. You just need to be open to what God is doing in your life.”
And from the same page: “We won't judge them for questions or fears or attitudes or lifestyles they have when they start — we will just keep pointing them to Jesus.”
That's not a slogan we wrote for this page. It's what we teach in the room. The rest of this page is us showing our work — everything we'd ask of you is right there below, before you're asked to agree to any of it.
“We won't force people to live this way. We will just point them toward Jesus … and help them take their next step in their relationship with Him.”
There are four things on the list below. Read them and notice what isn't there. Nothing about who you vote for, what you do for work, or how you spend your weekends. Four things, and every one of them is something you choose.
The one thing we do ask about how you treat people is the same thing we ask of everybody here: “We don't gossip; we speak life; we don't tear down; we build up.”
Then you've already cleared one of the four, and probably more. Nobody's going to tell you that doesn't count.
Here's what membership adds. Members serve in a greater capacity in leadership, and cast their vote on the important decisions we make as a GraceValley family.
Serving is something you do for the church. Being a member means you also have a say in where it goes.
No. Giving isn't one of the four. There's no dollar amount on this page and there isn't one behind it either.
We do teach generosity here, and we're not quiet about it — “the tithe is a trust issue, not a money issue.” You'll hear the whole teaching at GraceValley 101, which is the first thing on the list. But hearing it and being asked to prove it are different things, and only one of them is on this page.
Most churches make you sit through a class before they'll tell you what membership asks of you. Here it is instead, in full, at the start — so you can read it, sit with it, and disagree with it before anyone asks you for anything.
One Saturday morning, 9:30 to 12:30, and it's free. It's called “your first step in connecting to life at GraceValley,” and it's built on the same three words this whole church is: We Believe, We Belong, We Become.
You come, you sit at a table with a few people, and you find out who we are before you decide anything. It's the least demanding thing on this list, and you only do it once.
Not an interview. A conversation — your story, our story, and whatever you're still chewing on.
This is the step most churches skip, and it's the one we'd keep if we could only keep one. If you flagged anything on this page, this is where it comes up.
Our own definition: “a community pursuing an authentic and life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.” GV Groups are where Sunday inspiration turns into weekday transformation.
Somebody here ends up actually knowing you. That's the point of this one, and it's the one most people are quietly nervous about.
One. In a whole year. That's the bar, and it's low on purpose — because the point isn't the hours, it's that you've stood on the other side of the thing once.
And it isn't filling a gap on a rota: “It is our desire for everyone at GraceValley to have the opportunity to serve God and the church by serving in areas in which they are gifted.” Serve in your passion, not in our need. Most people who do one end up doing more.
They aren't hoops. They're Believe, Belong, Become with your name on it — and they're our core values with somewhere to land. Grace, it's about belonging, we are ALL IN. Growing Relationships, it's about the journey, better together. Generations, it's about everyone — This Valley for Jesus!

GraceValley is an Assemblies of God church, so our bylaws carry the formal details too — things like age and how membership is approved. A pastor will walk you through all of it. Nothing in there is a surprise.
